Hello Stampers,
The Peaceful Place and the Toil Christmas are a perfect combination for a lovely frame.
I did the scenery in the fall color and decided to do a blue bird. I know many will let me know that a cardinal is red but when it come to art we can do whatever we feel like. That is the beauty of paper art let your imagination go wild. I’am not sure if I dare asking but I am “what do you think of the blue bird” Is it something you will do or not? I personally love the blue bird, well after all blue is my favorite color.

Video links
I don’t have a video for this card but I have 2 video to help you out. Here are the links.
- Simple way to color the cardinal CLICK HERE Note that in the video I color with Cherry Cobbler and this one is stamp in Pretty Peacock for the first layer of ink then watercolor then stamp in black.
- Watercolor the scenery Peaceful Place CLICK HERE
Measurements
- Whisper White Thick 11 x 4¼ score at 5½
- Pressed Petal 5½ x 4¼
- Gold Foil 4¼ x 3¼
- Watercolor paper 3¾ x 2¾, 5 x 4 for branch and cardinal
The branch and bird I use the matching die to cut out. I bet you will notice that the bird don’t have a white outline framing, well after I die cut it I didn’t want all that white around the bird so I hand cut all that white framing around the bird. I understand that many don’t like hand cut or should I say fussy cut so you can always keep the white around the bird.
How to make the gold frame
For the frame I used the rectangle Heirloom frame die on gold foil paper. After you die cut the frame emboss with the matching embossing frame. Take the StazOn ink pad and drag into directly onto the emboss gold foil frame to give that vintage look.
Adhere foam strip all around the back for the frame then adhere the stamped and color scenery piece to the back then onto the card front.
To glue the branch and bird I use glue dots to adhere to the frame.
