For today’s post, I’m sharing four cards using the gorgeous Spooktacular Designer Series Paper, the new 6″ x 6″ pack just released in July 2026. The pack gives you 48 sheets — 12 sheets each of 4 designs — so I made one card with each design.
The whole point of these cards is to let the Designer Series Paper (DSP) be the star: instead of just using it as an accent, the DSP is part of the card base, and the fold is built so you actually get to see both sides of the paper. It’s such a fun way to use up your DSP stash!

The Technique
Here’s how each card base comes together, starting from one 6″ x 6″ sheet of DSP:
1. Trim the sheet down to 5-1/2″ x 6″. You’re removing 1/2″ total — I’m calling this the horizontal cut (top and/or bottom). Depending on the layout, I either removed the full 1/2″ from one edge (top or bottom), or split it and took 1/4″ off the top and 1/4″ off the bottom. I’ll tell you which I did for each individual card below.
2. Score the 5 ½” x 6 piece (6″ at the top) at 7/8″ from the left edge and 7/8″ from the right edge.
This leaves you with three sections across the piece: a 7/8″ flap on the left, a 4 ¼” center panel, and a 7/8″ flap on the right.
Building the Card
- Cardstock base: Cut a piece of cardstock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Glue the left DSP flap to this cardstock base.
- Color Layered: On top of that cardstock base, build up your layers — first a mat measuring 5-1/4″ x 4″, then a second, lighter-weight layer on top measuring 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″.
- Right flap: Fold the right DSP flap inward and glue it back onto the DSP itself (rather than onto the cardstock). When you open the card, the pattern keeps flowing, and you get to enjoy the beautiful DSP on both sides.
It’s a simple structure, but it makes a big visual impact and really lets a favorite sheet of paper shine from every angle.

If you notice, inside one of the cards I added a pumpkin. Well, all is explained in the video, but there were no dies involved in this. Sometimes using what we have on hand is just okay!
