Easy Card Layouts with the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper

For today’s blog post, I’m sharing a few easy card layouts using the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper. The only stamping I used is for the greetings from the Sweet Words and Labels Stamp Set, which also coordinates with the Sweet Words and Labels Dies. Everything is part of the Silly Old Bear suite collection.

Today’s focus is really all about letting the paper do the work. These layouts are simple, quick to create, and perfect for showcasing beautiful designer series paper with very little effort. I’m sharing a few different layouts and folds, along with photos and measurements below, to make recreating them easy.

I also included a video tutorial featuring the patchwork “two-for-one” technique, which is a great way to stretch your designer paper and create multiple cards at once.

One important note: this paper is only available in the U.S., and it is while supplies last. If the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper catches your eye, I would recommend getting it before it sells out. I have a feeling this may be one of those collections that disappears quickly — but that’s just me reading my crystal ball!

  • Basic Beige: 8” x 5¼”, 2” x 1 ¼”.
  • Silly Old Bear DSP: 3 ¾” x 5” (one of the scenery images); Pooh looking up (hand-cut); Pooh and Piglet in a field (hand-cut).

Instructions:

  1. Score the 8 ½” x 5 ½” Early Espresso at 4 ¼”
  2. Adhere the Delicate Dreams DSP to the top/front of the Early Espresso card base.
  3. Die Cut the Front Opening
Using the Sweet Words & Labels Dies, take the second largest frame.
Center it on the card front and die-cut through both the Early Espresso and the DSP layers.
  4. Create the Hydrangea Hue Frame. Place the second-largest die:
in the center of the cardstock and die cut. Place the largest frame die around the opening of the first cut and cut again. This will give you’re the framing.
  5. Adhere one frame to the front opening of the card and the second frame to the inside opening for a finished look.
  6. Fold 20” of linen thread in half and make a bow. Adhere to the card front on the frame.
  7. Adhere Pooh looking up on the small piece of Basic Beige and hand cut. Adhere to the front frame using mini dimensionals.
  8. Score at the 8” x 5 ¼” Basic Beige at 4”.
  9. Adhere this Basic Beige piece inside the Early Espresso card base, with the opening on the left. This creates the card inside a card.
  10. Adhere the scenery piece of the Silly Old Bear DSP to the front of the Basic Beige.
  11. Inside the basic beige card. On the right side inside panel, adhere a strip of Early Espresso cardstock, then the Pooh and Piglet image.
