How to make a fun fold card and a few great techniques all in one project! This is what you will find in this blog post today.
This gated fold with a twist creates a beautiful diamond frame when closed and opens like a double gate.
I also show how to emboss using dies (yes, dies!) with a silicone mat, how to age foil with sandpaper and StazOn ink, and even how to turn gold foil into silver using a Stampin’ Blend. This is a lot on one card. Also great for masculine cards.

Great &Textures with Nature Walk Designer Paper
Measurements
- Nature Walk 12″ x 5 ½” score at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″.
- Basic Black 2 of 2 ¾” x 2 ¾”, 3 ¾” x 5 ¼”, scrap for the greeting.
- Basic Beige 3 ½” x 5″.
- Texture Metallic 2 of 2 ½” x 2 ½”; these are both embossed with dies.
- Gold Foil 4″ x 5″ to dies cuts the greats.
The silver texture foil squares are embossed with the gear dies and then sanded with sandpaper or a nail file. Using the black Stazon drag the ink pad lightly over the entire surface. (See video) The raised gears are out of gold foil. Using the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends, remove some of the gold. This part is magical again, see the video. I also sanded and used Stazon to distress the gears.
Embossing with dies, the silicone craft sheet is a must.
The placement of the plate is
- Platform #1
- Clear plate #3
- Silicone craft sheet
- Cardstock or foil (foil face UP)
- Dies the cutting side face down on paper.
- Clear plate #3
- Pass it through the cut-and-emboss machine!
Embossed on cardstock with dies.
When closed, it fit in an A-2 envelope. Additionally, when closed, the diamond framing is visible.
