Snowflake with a Northern Lights Background

Today, I’m sharing how to create a beautiful Northern Lights background with the big snowflake from the Delicate Pines bundle. The Delicate Pines is part of the Elegant Pine Snowflake Suite. It includes the dies, stamp set, embellishments, ribbon, and designer series paper. Only available while supplies last in the online store.

For today’s project, I’m focusing only on the large snowflake — I like to call it the Northern Snowflake! This design makes a perfect just because I m thinking of you this winter a thank-you card — something like “Thank You Snow Much!” Some say they have the winter blues well this should cheer them up.

How to create the Northern Light Background

In this video, I demonstrate my technique for mixing colors. This creates the look of the Northern Light in the background. This video was recorded on Tuesday, November 11 in the morning. That night in Cheyenne, WY, we witnessed an amazing show with the Northern lights. See the picture below. It was amazing.

Also in the video, I talked about the Manitou Incline. See below for the result!

This is the one I demo in the video. The snowflake it is stamp on the card front, so no need for the dies for this card. You could always add a snowflake die-cut after.

I did heavy on the splatter but we can do less.

November 11, the Northern Light over Cheyenne, WY. What an amazing view. It was way cool to see the colors with our naked eyes. The picture was taken at night setting with an iPhone, so the colors are vivid. Here are some of my best shots.
