Today, I am sharing the Thoughtful Expressions Hummingbird Color. I shared where I got my inspiration to color a hummingbird.
Thoughtful Expressions Hummingbird Color Video.
In this video, I shared tips on mixing colors to color the hummingbird from the stamp set Thoughtful Expressions. For the coloring, I use Stampin’Up! Stampin’ Blends. Also, I share what is included in the bundle and what coordinates stamps coordinate with dies.
Frenchie’s Color Choice For Hummingbirds
The best place to get inspiration for colors for hummingbirds (all types of birds and flowers) is to google Images. Well, that is my preference. When I was in Texas in mid-September, the Hummingbirds would stop on their way south for winter. There were so many of them; you get dizzy watching them. They are so fast. Here in Wyoming, we have some, but in Cheyenne, they are rare. Although I remember camping in Flaming Gorge by Green River one year in August, the hummingbirds were all over.
As I mentioned in my video, it is different to say the colors I used to color birds because I keep adding more and more. It is so easy with Stampin’ Blends to keep adding a bit of this and a bit of that when you can blend them all together. If I remember, correct this one. I used Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Pretty Peacock Crumb Cake, and Gray Granite.
Measurements
- Gray Granite 11 x 4-¼ score at 5-½, the center frame I use 1 and 2 of the dies. *When I number my dies, I always count from left to right, like reading a book from big to small.
- Softly Stipple 4 x 5-¼
- Basic White center frame #1 frame, scrap for the bird, and 4 x 5-¼ inside
- Old Olive for the leaves
- Flirty Flamingo and Fresh Freesia are used for the die-cut flowers.
The colors for this one are Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Parakeet Party, Crumb Cake, and Tahitian Tide, and I also apply Wink Of Stella.
Measurements
- Very Vanilla 11 x 4-¼ score at 5-½, the center frame I use 1 and 3 of the dies. Scrap for the hummingbird. *When I number my dies, I always count from left to right, like reading a book from big to small.
- Softly Stipple 4 x 5-¼
- Gray Granite, center frame #2.
- Daffodil Delight and Basic Black are used for the die-cut flowers.
From my Google research, this hummingbird is called Blue-Headed or Riccirdia bicolor. There are so many colorful hummingbirds out there. I say let your imaginations run wild and use the color of your choice. Red, Copper, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Green, Turquoise, name it. I bet you can find them!
I think I will give the name of this one: 2022-2024 In-Color. I use almost all the 22-24 In-Color for this Blue-Headed bird. Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky, Gray Granite.
Measurements
- Tahitian Tide 8-½ x 5-½ score at 4-¼
- Starry Sky 4 x 5-¼ embossed with Layered Florals folder.
- Parakeet Party 1 x 5-¼ embossed with Basic Folder.
- Basic White 5 x 3-¾ inside and scrap for the die-cutes flower and hummingbird.

Beautiful cards.
The males are usually more colorful than females, to draw
attention away from the female from predators.
