It is an older technique that feels new after so many years of not doing it. I am talking about the Faux Silk Stamping Technique. I shared this technique during one of my live broadcasts, Create on the Fly. I have the replay below.
After I finished the broadcast, I decided to try it with the Stippled Roses and different inks. I have more info below.
Video How To Create The Faux Silk Stamping Technique
In this video, I shared how to create the Faux Silk Stamping Technique using the Detailed Dogwood stamp set with StazOn ink and writing markers. FYI, I tried with other inks and blends. See the details below.
Faux Silk Stamping Technique with the Detailed Dogwood Stamp
This is the card that I did live. As I mentioned in the video, it was best with StazOn, but I wanted a more subtle image and tried regular ink and stamping blends for a light color. See below for extra tips so you know it is possible.
Measurements
- Flirty Flamingo 8-½ x 5-½ score at 4-¼ card base
- Basic Black 4 x 5-¼
- Very Vanilla 2 of 3-⅞ x 5-⅛ (one at the top and one inside), Scallop oval
The more wrinkles you get on the tissue paper, the more it looks like silk.
Faux Silk Stamping Technique with Waterbased Ink and Stampin’ Blends
I wanted a softer look for the faux silk, so I tried the waterbased ink Pebbled Path to stamp the Stippled Roses and colored with the light Bubble Bath and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends.
Well, I did mention in the video when coloring on tissue paper, Stampin Blends are not the best because they spread on the tissue paper. My best advice for using blends is to have a light touch on the paper and not go on the edge of the stamped image.
I love the soft look of the light image and color. It is more vintage.
