For today I am sharing the Emboss and Deboss Technique with the 3D Wintry embossing folder. Also, I shared how to add color to both the emboss and deboss. I was inspired by Holly’s to create these cards today.
I love both sides of this embossed cardstock. It is great to see both the emboss and deboss. Most of you know of the emboss technique with the embossing folder, but you may ask what it is debossed? Here is the quick description of embossed: the image is raised, and the deboss is indented in the cardstock. All is explained in the video.
The stamp set Snow Wonder is a great set to complement the Wintry embossing folder. You know that Snowman is great for all occasion greeting cards for the winter season. However, I don’t think this set is just for the Holidays. Would be great for Thank you card, birthday cards, thinking of you and so on.
Video on how to add color on Emboss and Deboss cardstocks
In this video, I shared how to add color to the emboss and deboss cardstock. Two ways to use an embossing folder. It is hard to tell on a picture, so after watching the video, I recommend trying this technique to see the beauty of the final results.
Emboss and Adding Color
The card above is the embossed one. Here tip to add color on the embossed side.
Adding color to the embossed background adds ink on the SMOOTH side of the embossing folder, then embosses in the machine. This will add ink on the background and keep the raised emboss the nature color of the cardstock while the background is darker.
Deboss and Adding Color
Now to add color to the background of the Deboss is to emboss your cardstock first. I like to use the ink pad directly onto the debossed side of the cardstock to add color. All is shown in the video.
Compare the Emboss and Deboss
As mentioned above, pictures are no justice to share these techniques. If you look at the card on the left-hand side, that is the deboss, and the right is the emboss. This folder is tricky because it embossed and debossed images, but the main image is raised.
The color ink on both cards is crumb cake for the embossed cardstock. The snowman is stamped with Soft Suede ink.
