Lightning Technique for a Thunderstorm Card with the stamp set After the Storm.

What an amazing technique that I am sharing today. I will call this the Lightning technique. While creating with the stamp set After The Storm, I discover how to make the bolt lighting on a card.

These types of cards would be great for encouragement, get well, or just because you’re thinking of someone special. The greeting “Even the darkest night will pass & the sun will rise” these words are so encouraging and a promise that tomorrow will be better. No one needs to wait for a special occasion to send some words of encouragement. Just send a card like the ones that I am sharing today to brighten someone’s days.

The technique that I call Lightning, I discover how to make that while creating with the stamp set After the Strom. A few days before creating the card, we had a big storm, thunder, lightning. Oh! It was a powerful one. I wanted to create that beautiful sky view from the lighting in the sky during that storm. I can say that I am happy with the result and so excited to share it with you.

How to create the lighting technique on a thunderstorm card

In this video, I am sharing two different ways to create the Lightning technique. One is heat emboss with glue and embossing powder; the other is crayon resist.
Are you ready to learn this new technique with me?

All scenery is created on shimmery white cardstock. You could always use basic white, although, in my experience, I found that the shimmery white is more friendly to sponge and stamp a scenery like this one.
For the lightning technique on these cards, I use a glue pen to draw the lightning stricks and then embossed with white embossing powder. The glue pen that I use is called “quickie Glue” I got mine at Amazon. The pen looks just like a writing pen. It has a pinpoint roller perfect for drawing a fine line for the lightning. Be aware that it looks like not much glue is on the paper, however
that is plenty to emboss with powder. All are shown and explained in the video.

After the lightning is embossed, stamp more clouds and using the blending brush to add the colors. At the bottom, stamp the trees from the Campology stamp set. The greeting stamps direct of stamp on scrap paper and punch out with the Label Me Lovely Punch. I trim the punch out for the greeting and a fun punch out for the layer. In the video, I share how to trim the punch out.
The rain is the last thing you want to stamp.

Lightning Crayon Resiste

This was my first attempt to create the lighting. I like it, but I wanted a skinnier line for the lightning, and that is where I came up with the glue pen and emboss.

The crayon resists technique for the lightning is done on the shimmery white cardstock. The stamping and sponging are all the same; just the lightning is different. I also share the how-to in the video.
