What an amazing technique that I’m about to share with your all. The technique is the Faux Watercolor on Vellum with a Splash of Gilded Leafing.
It is more than one way to get this Faux Watercolor look on vellum but what I am about to share I would say it is the easiest way. Each card will be different even when using the same color all depend on the amount of ink and alcohol that we use.
Just a little warning this technique is very addictive. You make one then you want to try another color combo and so on. So in this case you want to have many sheets of vellum on hand.
Vellum Faux Watercolor With A Splash of Gold How-to Video
Are ready to see how easy it is to create the beautiful Faux Watercolor background?
Let me show you step by step how to make the watercolor look background on vellum paper the easy way. The video was recorded live last month.
Card showcase with the Faux Watercolor On Vellum With Splash of Gilded Leafing
I bet you think this is watercolor but it is not. The beautiful background is on vellum paper. Using a cotton ball with 70% alcohol and ink, dab on vellum, repeat with 3 different colors, and Voila you have this amazing background.
The beautiful crackle gold on the background that I the Gilded Leafing. Such a pretty crackle in gold. like mention above all is show step by step in the video.
Color Combo
When it comes to a color combination it’s no special formula. I would say go with deep and bright colors for this technique. A soft or light color will not be showing the best on vellum. so stay with bold and bright colors for the best result.
For someone that is not a fan of bright colors well, I sure like the Daffodil Delight, Melon Manbo, and Granny Apple Green. This is such a vivid combination like you can see on the card above.
The Poppy Parade, Pacific Point, and Coastal Cabana are the color combo on the card with the gold tree.
What would you choose with the gold accent or without? As shown above, that is before adding the gold, and below is with the gold.
I will admit that the gilded leafing can be messy but at least it adds some pizzazz to the card.
