Hello Friends,
Today it is all about Split Shapes for a fun Illusion. My sweet friend Holly shared this technique with me and let just say it can be very addictive. You do it with one shape of die then you want to try another shape then another …
I have the how-to video below of you can view it on my YouTube Channel.
Tips for the Split Shapes
Here a few tips that I discover while playing with these split shapes
- 4 different sizes of the same shape die work best.
- 2 contrast colors work great *I also think ombre would be great. Ombre is 4 of the same color tones ex: Night Of Navy, Pretty Peacock, Misty Moonlight, Pacific point.
- Align each shape at one edge then cut in half. I try nesting all shapes in the center and the end result is not the same as the one I align at the edge. I prefer to align them on the edge. *align or nesting is the same thing
- The Stitched Shapes Dies is a great die set to start the split
Measurements
- Whisper White 8½ x 5½ score at 4¼ card base, 5¼ x 4
- Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8, 4 x ¾
- Color cardstock for each shape
The one on the left is aligned in the center (nesting in the center) the one on the right is on the edge. For the fun illusion, I prefer to align them on the edge.
