Hello Friends,
It’s Masculine Monday with a fun technique, the water drop background. The stamp set that I used is the Country Road. A great combo for this set and technique.
Make sure to scroll all the way at the bottom to see my progress to the Million Dollar race and how you can earn free product.
I have the video at the bottom or on my You tube Channel.
Step by Step
This is such a fun and simple technique.
Using the Sponge Brayer, brayer whisper white or crumb cake cardstock using crumb cake ink. With the aqua painter squeeze water drop or flicker the aqua painter on top of your brayered cardstock. After you’re done with the water drop LET DRY natural. Do NOT use a heat took to dry. If you use a heat took to dry it will push the water all over the card stock and the drop will become spider web look or lines. That could be done for a different look but not for the drop look.
After it is dry then stamp your image. On this card I stamp all images in Early Espresso ink.
Measurement
- Crumb Cake 8½ x 5½ score at 4¼ card base
- Basic Black 5¼ x 4, 4 x ½
- Whisper White or Crumb Cake 5 x 3¾ TOP LAYER that your will sponge
- Very Vanilla 5¼ x 4 inside
Note that in the video I brayer on Crumb Cake cardstock and my first one I did it on whisper white cardstock. All work great. If you use whisper white for the base the water drops will be lighter then if you brayer crumb cake ink on crumb cake cardstock.
You can use any color ink for this technique. If you wish to have a blue sky just sponge Balmy Blue and do the water drop. So many choice and a fun way to add a decorative background.
After I was done with this card I wanted to add something else to the front, it was missing something. Well everything was glue together. I needed to find a way to make a opening for the Braided Linen Trim. Normally I would use ½ circle punch but the layer wouldn’t let me slide the punch on the side of the card, so I just used my paper snip to snip off a little opening on the side. Then I just wrap my trim around from the the inside to the front and tie a little bow. Always a way to make it work!
The picture above you can see the little opening that I slid my trim. I love that the trim show on the inside. It add a little of the country feel to this card.

Congratulations, Frenchie, being with Stampin Up for 17 years!
Sure look forward to masculine card ideas…in my 30-cards-a-month mailings, there are three shut-in males…flowers don’t quite work so masculine layouts are pure gold! This stamp set to me is calm, comforting and generic enough for many occasions.
Love the cards, France. Good luck on reaching your goal! Great tip on the shlf liner for the non-skid pad, too.
