Today, I’m excited to share a beautiful and easy technique to create a lovely sunset background using the In Color markers and a clear block! I’ll show you two versions of this technique:

✨ On watercolor paper – for a soft blended look
✨ On thick white cardstock – for a bold and crisp finish

Markers, Clear Block On Watercolor Paper

The background of these cards is all on watercolor paper.

The bigger background they are using is the clear “E” block, and the long rectangle is the “H” block.

Measurements

• Cloud Cover 11″ x 4 ¼” score at 5 ½” card base.
• Watercolor Paper 4″ x 5 ¼”
• Basic White 4″ x 5 ¼” Inside

With an Extra Layer

• Pecan Pie 8 ½” x 5 ½” score at 4 ¼”
• Cloud Cover 2 of 5 ¼” x 4
• Watercolor Paper 5″ x 3 ¾”
• Basic White inside 5″ x 3 ¾”

Clear Block Stamping on Thick White Cardstock

This showcase of cards features the front of each card stamped with markers using a clear block on thick white card stock.

No matter how many times you create this background, none of the cards will be identical. It is magical to see the finished look. As I explain in the video, this technique requires a sufficient amount of water to blend/marble the colors.

This card amused me greatly with the “heart shape” that resulted from the colors migrating together. I bet even if I try and try to recreate this heart shape, it wouldn’t be the same.
