Double Embossing with a Wood Look

Double Embossing Card Technique – Create a Stunning Wood Look!
Come learn how to create a beautiful, handmade card using a fun double-embossing technique—perfect for adding texture and a realistic wood look to your designs!

How to Create the Double Embossing with a Wood Look

In this video, I shared how to create a double-embossing effect using two folders or a folder with the Simply Score tool to achieve a wood-like look. I also share both sides, the embossed side and the debossed side.

Double Embossing With Two Folders

Using Two Embossing Folders – In my project, I combined the Sunflower 3D embossing folder with the Birchwood 3D embossing folder to create amazing dimensions and texture.

In the video, I share how to use a wood frame mat to obtain the two embossed images.
To add the ink, I do the dragging technique on the entire piece, and to add color to the Sunflower, I used a dauber. Many ask about the Blending Brush, and I find the dauber easier to control when adding ink to these embossed pieces.

Embossing Folder + Simply Scored Board

Embossing Folder + Simply Scored Board – Another version uses the Sunflower embossing folder along with the Simply Scored board to add embossed woodgrain lines for a more natural wood look.

Some of the sunflower faces are embossed, and some are debossed. That has its unique look.

Wood line with or without color

In the image on the left, I kept the score line plain, and it is on the debossed side. In the picture on the right, I added color with a marker and ruler; in this one, the Sunflower is on the embossed side. I shared the how-to in the video.

Red, White, and Blue

The day I recorded the video was the eve of July 4th, so ‘Red, White, and Blue’ was the perfect timing. Although red, white, and blue are often used on many occasions throughout the year, they are patriotic colors.

Also, I attended a wedding on the 4th, and I thought it was the perfect wedding card, so this is the “Congratulations.”

Embossed Envelop Flaps

Did you know you can emboss the flaps of the envelopes? My best advice is to do two at the same time to obtain the best result. One, the envelope is thin paper compared to card stock and tends to crackle, while two layers get a good imprint.
