Glue Dots For Nails and Screws

Today, I am sharing how to use glue dots to create faux nails and screws. These little glue dots add character and pizzazz to masculine cards.

This technique is very simple. Add the glue dots to the card stock, dip them in embossing powder, heat emboss, and voila! Here is a quick video that shows you the process step by step.

Glue Dots for Nails and Screws. How to create faux nails and screws using glue dots and embossing powers.

The top is the faux nails, the left bottom corner is the Philips Screw, and the right bottom is the flat head screen. The only difference between the nails and screws is that the glue with the embossing powder is still warm press a screwdriver on top to create the impression!

This is all that you need for the faux nail and/or faux screws.

Let’s Wander

Here is a card to which I added some faux nails.

Measurements:

Basic Gray 1: 11” x 4 ¼” score at 5 ½”
Basic Black 2: 1” x 4 ¼”
Basic Black 3: 4” x 4”
Basic Black 4: ½” x 4 ¼” inside.
Smoky Slate 5: 2 3/8” circle
Basic Black Two-Tone 6: 3 ½” x 3 ½”
Basic Gray 7: 3’ x 2 ½”
Basic White 8: 4 ¾” x 3 ½” inside.
Country Woods DSP: ¾” x 4”

Instructions:

Using the Timber 3D embossing folder, emboss the Basic Black two-tone (6) cardstock.
Using sandpaper, sand the surface of the emboss Basic Black (6).
Add glue dots in each corner of 3 and 6. 3 glue dots on each of 4 and the strip of DSP—one glue dot in the top center of the circle.
Dip each glue dot in the Silver Metallic embossing powder and heat emboss.
Using Black Memento ink, stamp the boots on 7, color with blends, and add Wink of Stella on the rivets.
Hand-cut the boots.
Stamp the greeting onto the circle using Black Memento ink.
Assemble all layers to the card front and inside layers.
