I am so in AHWWWW with the new design paper Thoughtful Journey. I have lots of  Scenic Greeting Cards Using The Thoughtful Journey Designer Paper.

I created over nine dozen cards using one pack of this fantastic Thoughtful Journey paper, and even after that many cards, I’m not tired of looking at the beautiful scenery. You may ask, what will I do with all these cards? If you place an order on my site this month, you will be a lucky recipient of one of them. This scenery can easily be used for all occasions, including sympathy, birthdays, thank you, and thinking of you, to name a few.

Video Sharing Scenic Cards Using The Thoughtful Journey Paper

In this video, I share how to cut the paper to create 96 Note cards or 96 regular-size cards, plus what to do with the leftover strips. This paper is fantastic; minimal effort is needed to create beautiful greeting cards.

Portrait Note Card Size

Scenic Greeting Cards Using The Thoughtful Journey Designer Paper

The paper is scenic on both sides. Well, it is watercolor scenery, I would say. Some are beautiful watercolor backgrounds, but stamping trees or flowers finishes the fantastic scenery.

My stamp set of choice. I started with Spotlight Nature, but after a few designs, I wanted more nature, like trees, and the Encircle In Nature was the right choice. The trees and little wildflowers were just what I needed. I share in the video how I stamp the half circle of trees on these prints. The greeting stamp set is “Go To Greeting.” that set is retired 🙁 So look into your stash. I bet you can find greetings from the mixed stamp set for these cards.

Measurements for note cards “Portrait Layout”

  • White Note Card Base
  • Layer 3-¼ x 4-¾
  • Designer Paper 6 x6 cut 1-½” top or bottom and 3 x 4-½ ( you will get two at the 3 x 4-½)

Set aside the 1-½ x 6 strip to create a card using mix strips. See the video for details and the picture below.

Here is the showcase of my take on the note cards.

Landscape Note Card Size

The landscape layout is the same size as the portrait, but the cutting is on the landscape side. See the video for the visual details.

Measurements for note cards “Portrait Layout”

  • White Note Card Base
  • Layer 3-¼ x 4-¾
  • Designer Paper 6 x6 cut 1-½” on the left or right side and 3 x 4-½ top and bottom ( you will get two at the 3 x 4-½)

Set aside the 1-½ x 6 strips to create a card using mix strips or to adhere inside. I cut the strip in half at the ¾ and 3″ adhere inside. I have two pieces of this side left over. ***The 1-½ was too wide for this size card.

I cut the leftover strips in half and adhered them to the note card.

Comparison of Portrait and Landscape Layout

First, I thought the Portrait layout would be better for this paper, but both are great with the Encircle In Nature stamp set.

A-2 Size Scenery Cards

These are full-size cards called the A-2 size. When closed, they are 5-½ x 4-¼. With one sheet of 6 x 6, I created two cards with NO left over. The bits and pieces I adhere inside the cards.

  • Designer paper cut 1″ at the top or bottom, 3-¾ x 5 and 2-¼ x 5

The 1″ strip I used inside the card.

The 1″ strip is cut at 4″ for one card and the 2″ for the other, creating a banner.

Measurements for landscape  layout

  • Basic White card base 5-½ or 8-½ x 5-½ score at 4-¼.
  • Layer 4 x 5-¼, 2 x 5-¼, 1-¼ x 4 .
  • Designer paper cut 1″ at one of the sides and cut at 3-¾ x 1, 3-¾ x 5, and 2-¼ x 5.

The 1″ strip I used inside the card.

A-2 Size Scenery Cards With Remaining Strips

With the leftover strips, 1-½ x 6 trim at 1-½ x 5. Using three strips over stack on a 4 x 5-¼ layer card stock. I added ¼ strips of card stock in-between each strip, others I did not—quick and simple layout to use the remaining strips.

Measurements

  • Card Base 8-½ x 5-½ score at 4-¼
  • Layer 4 x 5-¼, *optional 2 of  ¼ x 5-¼
  • Basic White or Beige 4 x 5-¼ insert inside if using a dark color for the base.
