What to do with all that strip of scrap paper? Greeting Cards With Half Inch Strips Of Scrap Paper is what I’ve done with my scrap paper. All cards I am about to share with you are with designer paper, but you could always do the same with cardstocks.
The lovely die cut I use for the center Painted Labels is 60% off WHILE SUPPLIES last. The direct link to order is below.
I don’t recommend cutting little strips of paper do these designer cards, but start saving your scrap paper, and in a bit of time, you will have a stash of paper to create these simple quilt cards. Well, to get the scrap paper of this beautiful designer paper, the first step is to use that pretty paper 🙂
Recap of the live broadcast of the Half-Inch Strips Of Scrap Paper
This video was recorded live during one of my creations on the fly. I shared tips and how I created the quilt herringbone pattern and the strip cards.
Showcase Of Herringbone Quilt Pattern Cards
These Herringbone Quilt Pattern Cards all use the same size strips of designer paper. I started the strips with 6 x ½. You will see in the video how I time the strips to fit the base of the cards and how I use the trim pieces. I prefer to start the quilt on a ¼ sheet 5-½ x 4-¼, and when finishing the quick, I trim to 5 x 3-¾
After finishing the quilt portion, I embossed it with the Basic Folder from the pack of 3 in the Online exclusive all
. I love this folder. It looks like fabric.Basic measurement (more cards are the same size. Some I adjust ¼ inch or so, but these measurements are most of these cards.
- Basic White card base 8-½ x 5-½ score at 4-¼, 5-½ x 4-¼ quilt layer (after finishinsh the quilt trim to 5 x 3-¾)
- Color layer to march your designer paper 4 x 5-¼
- Designer paper strips of ½ (this can vary in size if you have different size scrap)
The top card is with the Hello, Irresistible designer paper, and all the ones below are with the Fancy Flora designer paper.
Glenda created this lovely card. She used the So Saffron for the card base.
This was the first one I did; the quilt portion is on Soft Succulent. Well, let’s say that basic white for the quilt portion is better to showcase the pretty pattern of the quilt.
Simple Strips Cards
Now, these cards are very simple. However, the Herringbone is a little time-consuming, so if you want to use scrap strips of paper but don’t have much time, these layouts would be the best.
On the top card, the strips are 4-¼ x ½, and below are 3-½ x ½. Of course, you can use different lengths and also alternate the size. Just piece some scrap paper on cardstock for the top layer, and Voila! You made your quilt card while using scraps.
