Today I am sharing a simple way to add color on a stamped detailed image without taking the time to color. The Clear Block Technique with a baby wipe and reinker is so simple and quick to have colors.
I hear over and over from followers or customers that they are afraid of detail stamps because they dislike coloring or don’t have time to color all the detail. Well, don’t stop getting a beautiful stamp set cause it is a fine detail one. What I am about to share you will see you can make beautiful cards with detailed stamps and no need to color.

Clear Block With Baby Wipe Technique
Step by step to add color to a detailed stamp image.
- Fold a baby wipe in half and place it on a stamp case or plastic plate.
- Had drops of refill ink. Today I added Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz.
- Using a clear block (today I use the H block) tap on the inked wipe then onto your card stock.
- Let dry a little and stamp your image on top of the inked surface. (I used Black Memento Ink)
- That simple!
I did about 80 cards with the same wipe and did add any extra ink. I use the spritz bottle with water when I didn’t get enough color so reactive the ink color. if I recall correctly I only had to spritz water 3 times to finish all my 80 cards. I explain and how how to do it in the video. I love this technique for detailed stamp sets.
Color Choice
I wanted soft color for this card and boom I think I got a great combo. The come is Coastal Cabana, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz. Love the softness of this combo with the Dragonfly Garden. First the yellow I did Daffodil Delight and to be honest it was a little too bright with the other 2 colors so I switch to the So Saffron and that was a winner.
Measurements
I have 2 set of measurement some I have a color layer cardstock and some of the cards is white on white. I love the clean look.
Without color layer
- Basic White 8½ x 5½ score at 4¼ card base
- Basic White thick card stock 5¼ x 4
With layer
- Basic White 8½ x 5½ score at 4¼ card base
- Pretty Peacock or Coastal Cabana 5¼ x 4
- Whisper White 5 x 3¾
If you wish to make some with just the card base only without no layers use the thick whisper white the regular white card stock will NOT work because the color will bleed in the cover.
Here the white on white. It is something that attracts me to these cards. Could it be the simplicity or the cleanest?
No matter how many times you stamp with clear block all backgrounds will vary. Using the foam pad under your cardstock will help to get the color on the cardstock.
