Hello Stampers,
Today I am sharing how to do etching and stamping with Prized Peony stamp on velour-velvet. This is an old technique however I bet new for many. It sure is a wow effect on a card.

Before I tell you all how to do it I have a disclaimer DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible if you melt your stamp. I have been doing this for years and never had a problem but I can see people forget a step or keeping the iron too long and melting their stamp. I use red rubber stamp I did NOT try it on the Photopolymer and I don’t think I am brave enough to give it try.
I have the how-to video at the bottom of this post or you can view it on my YouTube Channel.
Step by step
- Heat up your iron on the highest setting on dry
- Place your stamp face up (I use red rubber stamp every time I did this technique)
- MOST IMPORTANT STEP spritz the back on your velour with water
- Place the velour face down on to the stamp (the velour side facing the stamp)
- Place a piece of foil to cover the velour. I use 2 layers of foil.
- Press the iron on top of the foil for about 40 seconds.
- Voila, you have your stamp etching on velour.
- Again do this at your own risk
I strongly recommend watching the video to see it in action.
Measurements
- Velour-Velvet about 4 x 5
- Cherry Cobbler 5½ x 4¼
- Very Vanilla 4 x 10½ score at 5¼
- Gold Foil 4 x 1
Velour or velvet
Well, I did some research about the velour and velvet and I think all depends who describes the product. Velour is more french I think. I thy on the velveteen paper we have and it will NOT do the imprint. The velour has to be high quality to get a good imprint. I try it velour that about $6 a yard and it was not working. The one that I am using was about $18 a yard. I bet you’re thinking that is crazy $18 a yard but know that you can buy just 6 inches, it is 72 wide so you would have some to make many and many more cards for only $3 for the 6 inches.
