Hello Friends,
Today I am sharing tips for the sponge brayer and how to keep the Stampin’ Pad not to slide when rolling the brayer.
I have a quick 3 minutes video below or you can find it on my You Tube Channel.
Rubber Liner to the rescue
See the beige rubber mat under my stampin’ pad.The rubber mat is rubber liner for drawers.
Using the rubber mat is one of the best tips I can share when using the sponge brayer. I was doing many cards using the brayer and I was getting frustrated due to my ink pad was sliding away or what I call walking away. I had a piece of rubber liner sitting on my desk and decide to put it under my ink ads. OH! my what a difference that little piece of rubber liner made when I was rolling the brayer. Let just say that I finish all the card with a smile on my face and I was not frustrated. Again it is all explain in the video.
How to Ink the Brayer
When you use the Brayer do NOT just go back and forth on the ink pad, cause that will only put ink on partial on the brayer. So roll lift and keep roiling and lifting a few time then roll onto your card stock.
Today video is mainly about the rubber mat to keep your ink pad in pace but at the end of the video it is another video attach that I share the Beach Happy and I show how I roll the brayer on the ink pads.
UPDATE 8:20 AM the popular question this am is.
Question Do you have a grayer for each color and how I store the foam brayer?
Answer I don’t have one for each color. When I am done with a project I wash them. The only one that I keep ink on is Balmy Blue and Old Olive because I do lots of scenery. When I used any other color when I am done I was them with just water. I store mine in my a try with many other sponge nothing extra.
By the Bay Card with the Brayer
See the soft backfround well that was done with the sponge brayer. I prayer this background during the video and then I finish the card. I just cut the oval share and adhere into the card so simple.
The stamp set is By the Bay, a stamp set part of sale a bration. So it can be yours for free with an order of $50.
Measurement
- Whisper White 8½ x 5½ score at 4¼, 2-5/8 oval
- Crumb Cake 2 x 5½
- Balmy Blue 1½ x 5½ emboss with the Seaside Texture folder
For the oval I started on a piece of 5¼ x 4 and decided to die cut the oval shape for this card but you can always start with the oval shape.

Good Morning Frenchie! Great tip with the cabinet liner. I was wondering with the sponge brayer, do you need to have a new one for each color, or can it be cleaned like the older brayer?
Hi Elly
I don’t have one for each color. When I am done with a project I wash them. The only one that I keep ink on is Blamy Blue and Old Olive because I do lots of scenery. When I used any other color when I am done I was them with just water.
Ok, thanks!!
Beautiful card first of all. Thank you for sharing how to use the sponge brayer. Frenchie you are amazing. Have a blessed and beautiful day.
Great idea, Frenchie! Will get a piece of leftover drawer liner.
How can you create a lake effect, using a brayer, so that it is not just one flat colour?
Thanks for your help!
