Hello Stampers
Tip of the day! What ink pad should I use? StazOn? Archival? Memento? so many ask me this question and to be honest with you I am not the expert with all ink type but here a few thing that I experience and I did a little bit of research and here is my results.
At the bottom of this post on my blog you will find the video where I show the comparison of black ink pad that Stampin’Up! sales. Plus a printout sheet for you to have on hand for easy access for reference.
Stampin’Up! have 3 type of black ink pad so lets compare all 3
Archival Ink
- Permanent Ink
- Take a while to dry
- Emboss with powder
- After your stamped image is dry you can watercolor
- **if you stamp on vellum, photo, acetate it will take a long time to dry
- in all 3 black ink pads this is the most bright in the black what I call the true black
StazOn
- Alcohol Ink
- perfect to stamp on non porous like acetate, window sheet, foil paper and such *on non porous surface it will take a little longer to dry then on paper
- After your stamped image is dry you can watercolor
Memento
- you can use alcohol to color after your stamped image is dry. *if you have the blendability or copic this is the one ink to use
- fade resistance
- Dry Fast
Here you can see I heat emboss with the archival ink the one on the left I use clear embossing and the one on the right I use copper.
The next 3 image is just a little test that I did between watercolor and alcohol color.
Now I could not just share a tip of the day without a finish card so here a card that I use the Archival ink and emboss with clear embossing power.
I will list all supplies for this card at the bottom plus all 3 type of ink for easy shopping.
Measurement
-Basic Gray 8½ x 5½ fold in half
-Whisper White: 5½ x 1, 3 x 2¾. *5¼ x 4 inside
-Basic Black 3¼ x 3
I stamp the train with the Archival black ink and emboss with clear embossing powder and color with Smoky Slate markers
