Hi Friends! I’m back visiting Frenchie’s blog for another edition of ‘Passport Pals’.  A lot of us are getting ready to make our Christmas cards (some of you may already have them done ~ kudos to you!) and I thought I’d give you some inspiration.  Here’s a fun way to make a photo card this year:

To make this card I used my Stampin’ Trimmer (#126889) to cut and fold the center pieces of Winter Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper (#132341) to make the ‘window shutters’.  I thought I’d take a photo of the template I made, in case it would be helpful for you.  The card base is a standard 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and the Designer Series Paper is cut at 5 1/4″ by 4″, which is what the template is for:

It may look complicated, but it’s really not.  If you don’t want it to be precise then you can just ‘wing it’ and ‘eye-ball’ it and I’m sure it will look fine!

I used Glue Dots (#103683) to hold back the shutters and added a couple of Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (#127555) and Island Indigo Bakers Twine (#125575).  I love those buttons – they really do look like ice!

Speaking of ice, the icicles along the top are really easy to make too!  Just squeeze a line of Crystal Effects (#101055) onto the Silicone Craft Sheet (#127853) and then ‘pull down’ the icicles using a toothpick.  Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds (#127845) liberally over top and set aside to dry.  Overnight is best.  Once dry, shake the excess glitter off and your icicles are now ready to peel off and use! Cut to size and use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110755) to adhere to your project.  My Hubby came up with the idea to create a ‘scarf’ for the “Warm Wishes” sentiment (Snow Day Stamp Set #131892 wood & #131895 clear).  He then used the Basic Black Marker for the scarf stitches. I figured if he was going to come up with the idea, I’d pass over the supplies he needed and let him crack on! LOL  He did a great job on the fringes too, hey?  This card was so much fun to make and would be a great lay out for any occasion and any time of year.
